"Mom, I'm leaving for school, see ya later!" Matt screamed as he walked out the door biting his nails. He was nervous. Of course only one person was a master at making Matt worry, and Danny was succeeding at it today.
Matt pulled out his phone and sent one more text. 'where r u??? jesus danny!!!!' Danny had a habit of getting wasted and waking up in random people's beds. It was just what he did and Matt had, more recently, come to accept that.
Matt urgently grabbed his phone the minute it vibrated. 'sorry. u know. doing the usual stuff. ill see you at school. Matt sighed as he walked in the doors of the high school. A couple girls stopped him on the way in to try and meaninglessly flirt with him. Apparently they hadn't understood it when Danny told everyone at school that Matt is his property.
Danny walked over and said hi, like usual. And also like usual his appearance oozed one-night-stand. Matt wondered what girl's dreams he crushed this time. He knew it was a girl because of the lipstick stains on Danny's lips and face and the nauseating smell of too much perfume.
Matt and Danny decided to skip English because the teacher wasn't even there. It's not like it mattered, both were too smart for their ages. "Here take this, and this, and this. I can't stand to have you looking like sex with girls," Matt said joking, handing Danny some tissues, cover-up, and cologne. He only had that shit because Danny always seemed to need it.
"Thank you babeee," Danny said emphasizing the last word. He always seemed to call Matt things that would make him blush.
"Do you honestly get amusement from my embarrassment?" Matt asked looking up at his best friend. Were they best friends? You'd think they'd be considered something more.
"Of course," he said as the bell rang, "Why else would I tell everyone you're my property? Bye bye baby!" he called as he walked towards his next class.
Behind the teasing and the joking, anyone could easily notice that the way they looked at each other was different. With love.
